This course is designed to give you a basic understanding of catering and food service with applied knowledge and skills.


You will gain an NVQ1 in Preparing and Serving Food and a Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene

Diploma in Hospitality Reception


Dieser neu eingerichtete Kurs eignet sich besonders für Abgänger(innen) der Sek.I, die Kenntnisse und Fertigkeiten für eine spätere Tätigkeit an der Rezeption erwerben möchten.


Level: Level 2, Intermediate


Duration: 1 Year Full-Time


Requirements:

Course Details:

You will study the following mandatory units:

• Create and maintain effective working relationships

• Customer care skills

• Deal with bookings

• Deal with the arrival of customers

• Maintain a safe and secure working environment


and the following optional units:

• Deal with communications and book external services

• Prepare customer accounts and deal with departures

• Maintain data in a computer system.


You will be taught both the Fidelio and Hotel Perfect computerised hotel reception bookings systems, which are widely used throughout the hospitality industry.


You will also take the following qualifications:

• Hospitality Awarding Body Certificates in Customer Service and
Conflict Handling

• C & G Certificates in Appearance and Grooming

• Key Skills qualifications in IT, Literacy and Numeracy

• NVQ 2 Food and Drink Service



Work experience is an integral part of this course. You will be required to work in local hotels on certain days during the second and third terms where your NVQ Level 2 assessment will be undertaken.

• Customer care in hospitality

• European cuisine

• Food and beverage service operations

• The Hospitality Industry


In Year 2 the units include:

• Chinese cuisine

• Conferencing and banqueting operations

• Food and drink service organisation

• Human resources

• Indian cuisine

• Thai cuisine

• Themed event planning



As part of the course you have a three month placement in industry which could be either in the UK or Europe. In addition to the main qualification you will have the opportunity to gain many other relevant qualifications including NVQs and the Foundation and Intermediate Food Hygiene.
