The School of Creative Arts has purpose built facilities including a dedicated print room with silk screen, etching and lithography presses, photographic studios with wet and dry rooms, an Apple Mac room, life drawing studios, and dedicated studios for graphics textiles and foundation.
The area offers a wide and diverse range of arts courses up to and including foundation degree level, as well as evening classes and an enrichment programme of activities for students on other programmes..
Photography

As part of your programme you will be given the opportunity to work on joint initiatives with music, dance, drama and media students as well as being involved with community projects.
Geography
Geography will provide you with an awareness of the World as well as the latest developments of environmental issues. It is a wide ranging academic subject giving you the opportunity to analyse diverse Geographic information.
You will gain an insight into a range of issues which will help you to make a suitable career choice or to select an ideal course for study at a higher level.
You will benefit from being taught by a well qualified lecturer with substantial teaching, research and employment experience.
Law
The course has been designed to encourage candidates to take a broad view of the law, to develop their capacity for critical thinking and to appreciate the relationship between different aspects of the subject.
The course provides an appropriate foundation for further study of law or related subjects in higher education and various vocational courses. In addition the syllabus provides a worthwhile course for candidates of various ages and diverse backgrounds, in terms of general education and lifelong learning.
Psychology
Psychology is the scientific study of people, the mind and behaviour.
It is both a thriving academic discipline and a vital professional practice. Within this course you will be studying a broad range of topics relevant to everyday life.
Religious Studies
This course aims to develop a questioning but positive interest in religious belief and ethical judgements, using reasoned arguments not tied to any single system of belief.
No specific religious knowledge or commitment is required. A critical but positive attitude is essential. The aim is to clarify claims to religious beliefs and commitment to ethical values.
You are required to take four modules, two in the first year for AS and two in the second year for A2.
• For AS you will take one exam in philosophy of religion and one in ethics.
• For A2 you will take a second exam in ethics and one on religion in contemporary society.
Sociology
Sociology develops your understanding of human social life. You will develop a variety of techniques for studying and thinking about the social world which challenge the “common sense” assumptions of everyday life. Sociologists attempt to see behind everyday reality by uncovering objective social facts or by studying and empathising with the world views of marginalised groups. They produce new imaginative explanations and test them by collecting and analysing evidence.
You will be taught by enthusiastic and highly qualified lecturers, experienced in teaching at both Further and Higher Education levels, and with an excellent record of success.
Mathematics
The ability to think mathematically and to use mathematical techniques to solve problems is one of the key skills that underlie much of modern life.
A surprisingly wide range of University courses have mathematical or statistical components and doing this course will give you the necessary background for these. It is also a fascinating and most enjoyable subject in its own right.
